For the  most part, I agree - but overall, stick to the adage that you can always remove color, but cannot easily put it back . . . so we only shoot FOR black and white if client requests it - and love nothing more than shooting with actual FILM. 

In editing my images, my philosophy about BW is this: When COLOR does not contribute to the or Story or emotion that a photograph captures, then BW wins.  However some subjects are very color-critical (automobiles, architectural elements, design related elements)
